Who We Are
We are a team of educators, administrators, software engineers, graphic designers, business managers and entrepreneurs. We are real people who:
  • Help individuals and teams identify visions, goals and implementation strategies
  • Find the most appropriate resources and tools based on your needs
  • Provide tips and project examples
  • Listen and respond when you need us
  • Coach, support and train eCoaches, mentors and trainers
We are group of people who genuinely care about helping others and have a passion for learning. Many of us have a background in education and working with groups to help improve lives and reach goals. We believe in the power of community and dedicate 110% towards our projects.

My eCoach Team
Barbara Bray, CEO/founder of My eCoach, brings over 23 years of professional development and coaching experience. As an Educational Consultant for Brokers of Expertise for the state of California, Barbara also brings over 18 years of experience in online education. Barbara formed My eCoach to provide customized and thoughtful support, resources, and tools to individuals and groups that want to identify and reach their goals.

Barbara writes a regular column on professional development for OnCUE, moderates the Professional Development QuickTips (PDQs) for, and has contributed to numerous journals, articles, and books, and presented at national and international conferences. Barbara has received prestigious awards for her undying vision, passion, and dedication to revolutionize learning and online learning communities, including the Gold Disk and the Platinum Disk Award from CUE (Computer Using Educators).

Barbara aspires to change the way we learn by making learning personal and challenging the current face of learning. She is the heart and soul behind My eCoach. Barbara’s enthusiasm fuels the My eCoach staff and community to work thoughtfully and collaboratively. Barbara continues to add valuable content and resources to My eCoach, provides valuable visioning workshops for organizations, and trains Certificated eCoaches and coaches for groups. Charlotte McGovern, Content and Project Developer, brings 40 years of experience in education, (20 years as a classroom teacher and 20 years as a school administrator and school site technology coordinator) to My eCoach. Charlotte has served 5 years on the Board of Directors for East Bay Computer Using Educators (CUE), (2 of those as President) and was a founding member and Vice President of CUE’s Global Technology SIG, leading exchange groups and presenting at conferences in Russia. For her outstanding work, Charlotte has received the Gold Disk award from CUE.

Charlotte has worked with My eCoach for over 10 years, using her valuable experience in education to create important education-based content and projects for educators and schools. As a Certificated eCoach, she helps K-8 teachers use My eCoach’s assessment tool that assesses their technology skills. Charlotte’s vision is to develop more projects that will highlight ways that My eCoach can serve both the local and world communities, such as her service
Charity Afghan Project.
Roxanne Clement, Certificated eCoach and Content Developer, has a wealth of experience that she brings to My eCoach, including over 30 years of teaching experience, 20+ years as a Media Center Specialist, 15+ years as a Title I/SIP Coordinator and 10+ years as a State Reviewer/Plan Reader. Roxanne’s experience implementing site network services, content development, providing inservice, and staff development training, has helped her integrate major technology innovations throughout the Alameda School District. Roxanne’s efforts have earned her the Teacher of the Year AUSD and KQED Focus Teacher awards.

As part of My eCoach through its creation, Roxanne has added integral content, including model samples and projects cloned within the community and trainings, such as her exciting
Penguins 2009project. Roxanne plans to continue coaching and adding creative content to My eCoach. Additionally, she looks forward to being a Facilitator for Educational Change and presenting online webinars.
Ken Bakken, Certificated eCoach, has been working with My eCoach since 2002. To My eCoach Ken brings consulting experience as the owner of Computers R-E-Z and over 30 years of experience as a middle and high school teacher. Ken has helped direct and manage TLCF and EETT grants from 2000 to 2007 and the No Limit EETT federal grant in four districts in Washington state.

Ken’s coaching has helped guide teacher-led projects to success, sharing their outcomes at regional computer conferences in the Northwest. Ken enjoys eCoaching and plans to continue adding useful resources and tips to the eLibrary such as his Pentominos project.
Ken is available for coaching if you need ideas for Math teachers and/or setting up a coaching program for your organization.
Pearl Tong, Web Software Engineer, brings over 7 years of experience from a Computer Science and Engineering degree from UC Davis. Pearl has worked as a Software Engineer on websites developed on LAMP and started working for My eCoach in August 2005. In 2007, Pearl became a Zend Certified Engineer. An integral part of My eCoach, Pearl aspires to provide an easy and private way for My eCoach members to work and collaborate and looks forward to creating tools that fits their needs.
Sara Zimmerman, Marketing/Sales Consultant and Graphic Designer, brings over 10 years of marketing and sales experience from two newspapers and two of her own start-up businesses. She is a contemporary artist at heart and has over 7 years of graphic design experience. Sara has served as the Public Relations chair on the Board of Directors for North Tahoe Arts and on the steering committee for the Arts and Culture Committee of Truckee-Tahoe. Her articles about marketing and the arts have been published in numerous art publications.

Owner of Sara Zimmerman Art, Illustration and Design, Sara combines her marketing/sales experience with her design background helping to create the new face of My eCoach and sales materials. She hopes her recent work for My eCoach will help relay its incredible benefits and features to the world.

Certificated eCoaches
Marcelo Leal brings over 15 years as a High School Spanish teacher, 12 years as a programmer and 5 years of mentoring experience to My eCoach. Marcelo works with Stanford University’s BAFLP (Bay Area Foreign Language Program) as a mentor teacher and have presented with CLTA (California Language Teacher’s Association) on technology at their yearly conferences. Marcelo is also in charge of Migrant Education and Latino Parent Coalition at Oak Grove High School.

Marcelo develops content for My eCoach such as his
ePortfolio project and continues to spearhead teacher trainings that utilize My eCoach to share best practices and lesson ideas and design online communities for World Language Teachers.
David Tucker, has been a teacher for 31 years, math and science trainer for 15 years, and grant writer for 15 years. David has been the Principal Investigator of numerous grants, an online collaborative trainer for 10 years using My eCoach and Blackboard, and has been involved as a teacher in the regional development and testing center at his school for Science Learning In Context Project in which eMates were unveiled. For his efforts, David has been rewarded as the Recipient of Presidential Award, Tandy Fellow, and Genentech Fellow.

Currently David is an online trainer of science and math professional development courses, is writing climate change investigations for kids, and is developing an online course for teachers in our Climate Change EPA grant project. David has an emphasis on using digital sensor-based data collecting tools (
) in climate change and other environmental topics. He is developing a professional development course for teachers and environmental nonprofit groups.
Cynthia Sistek-Chandler, EdD, has been with My eCoach since the beginning. Cynthia is a full professor at National University, lead trainer for Module 3 of AB430 training for principals at San Diego County Office of Education, is President of the San Diego CUE Affilitate, has written numerous articles, and presented hundreds of engaging workshops at national conferences. Cynthia uses research-based strategies with My eCoach to design online curriculum and engaging workshops. For her work with the educational community, Cynthia was honored the Gold Disk Award from CUE.

Cynthia’s expertise includes leadership skills and technology integration in all fields. Cynthia puts her heart and soul into every project. The participants at her workshops and classes not only
become engaged in the topic, but become believers as well.
Teresa Roebuck is Director of the REAL Learning Center, and President/Founder of The Appreciation Nation (tm) for Teachers (, that supports novice teachers in their first five years of teaching. Teresa designs and implements online courses, collaborative video conferencing training, educational technology training, instructional video production and Training of Trainer sessions as Adjunct Faculty of Wilkes University and University of St. Frances, Online Instructor of Performance Learning Systems. Teresa was the Online Professional Development Coordinator for the Arkansas State Department of Education from 2006-2008.

Teresa’s enthusiasm for coaching and working with novice teachers with The Appreciation Nation (tm) works well in My eCoach. This coming year look for engaging interviews from experts in the field, a rich content site, and tips for novice teachers in the My eCoach community that Teresa is creating for the Appreciation Nation.
Steven Caringella has been using My eCoach for the last four years as a part-time instructor at Foothill College’s Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) and has recently become a Certificated eCoach. With both a M.A. in Education from Bethany University and one in Instructional Technology from San Jose State, Steven has provided professional development in educational technology at the school and district levels, in addition to teaching FastTech classes at the KCI. He has ten years of experience in K-12 education and provides professional development to teachers in the area of educational technology. He delivers trainings and presentations for the Oracle Education Foundation on the use of in collaborative student projects. Steven currently teaches Spanish at Russell Middle School in Milpitas Unified School District.

main focus has been helping teachers use free, web-based tools such as blogs, wikis, and other online collaboration tools like My eCoach to enhance instruction and student learning. He has designed multiple online courses on Web 2.0 and integrating technology into the classroom. Steven will be presenting such projects using My eCoach.
Janice Friesen has over 30 years of experience in education, including 15 years as a teacher, 5 years as a mentor and most recently as an Instructional Technology Coach at Barton Creek Elementary School in Austin, TX. After completing a Masters in Educational Technology she worked with the National eMINTS Center in Missouri. During this time she learned the importance of student-centered, inquiry-based instruction and had opportunities to work with teachers online and in person as they improved their practice. She has published articles in Multimedia Schools Magazine and TechLearning and served as a faculty member of Connected Classroom and PBS Teacherline.

Janice has been involved in some small way with My eCoach for many years.  She has watched My eCoach grow and change and participated by adding to the eLibrary and sharing photos of travels. 
Janice looks forward to collaborating and spreading the word about My eCoach to school districts in Texas.
Linda Lentz is an independent consultant from Indiana who is a successful grant writer, has worked for hospitals and with the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC), and has provided successful webinars for the CILC. Linda’s expertise encompasses videoconferencing and designing interactive collaborative projects.

Linda has been working with My eCoach since 2004 and is excited about the possibilities of using My eCoach to expand the work of the Professional Development providers. She hopes to present future webinars on grantwriting and videoconferencing using My eCoach.
Daniel R. Moirao has been a classroom teacher, site and district administrator and an executive coach in a variety of rural, urban and suburban school districts. Additionally, Dr. Moirao has experience as a certified curriculum auditor, trained executive coach, trainer of learning styles, teaching strategies, cooperative earning, and differentiated instruction, an online instructor, and a strategic planner.Many recognize Dan as a pioneer in school reform as well as a distinguished educator.

Dr. Moirao’s passion and commitment is to an unwavering focus on powerful, equitable, and engaging learning experiences in preparing learners to realize a life of success beyond belief. As a dynamic teacher, trainer, and keynote speaker for administrators, teachers, and parents, Dan has implemented professional learning communities both online and in real time. Currently, he is working with professional learning communities online with My eCoach.
