From the Ground Up
What do you know about trees?

Project Overview

Can you imagine a world without trees?  Trees are nearly all around us and have been around long even before humans existed.  This site will help students take an indepth look at trees and all their important attributes.  They will participate in activites to help them identify their different parts and learn about what they need in order to grow.  In addition, students will hear stories about them and how they are brought to life in books.  The children will also focus on how to take care of trees and the benefits that they can provide.

Rationale

Not only do trees offer us their beauty, but they are essential to the way that we and other living things need in order to survive.  Children will learn that trees provide us with everything from the air that we breath to the books and pencils that we use at school.  Animals also depend on them to live and use it for food and shelter.  This site will help children become more aware of the importance and need to protect and conserve trees.  If we carelessly waste the resources that trees provide us, they eventually everyone and everything may suffer.
