Collaborative WebQuest Projects

  This is an opportunity for the Level Three (Mentor) person who wants to create a collaborative project with students in and outside the classroom. Identify those advanced students who are ready to take the next step and work as their coach so they can develop an interactive website that is curriculum-based. Share with them how this unit is to be aligned to the content standards. Help them find another team to develop the website and collaborate with online.
 
Purpose
to be able to create a collaborative website with students in and outside of the classroom
Objectives
  1. practice responsible, ethical, and legal use of online information
  2. use online applications for collaboration, research, and development of project
  3. use online tools to have students create a WebQuest collaboratively with students outside the classroom to build bodies of knowledge around specific topics
  4. work as a coach to support student teams to sustain project
 NCATE Standards 
1.3.5,   2.3.2,   2.4.4,   2.4.6

 I.B,  II.B , C, and E,  III.A,  VI.A and E
 

Length and Types
  • twelve to twenty-four hours hands-on workshop in a small group with others at the same level that includes online support or
  • three to four hours coaching session with teacher and student teams plus follow-up online
 Prerequisite
Student Websites and Portfolios or equivalent 

This eCoach opportunity can be bundled with other opportunities in an institute or staff development program with a focus on a particular curriculum area, grade-level, or project.  This opportunity can be divided into two separate workshops: student websites and electronic portfolios. Our coaches can prepare your coaches to provide any of these services onsite for a separate fee. Our coaches will include relevant eCoach guides as part of any opportunity or purchase guides separately.
