Active Viewing Strategies

This is an opportunity for the Level One (Entry Level) or other level person who uses videotapes, television, or related websites, but is interested in learning more strategies for using these resources that will engage students in the curriculum. We will touch on media literacy strategies since all of us are bombarded everyday with advertisements and inappropriate messages. Participants will discuss different scenarios and possible ways to handle each situation. Strategies for Media Literacy can be added as an opportunity for the Level One (Knowledge) or Level Two (Instructional) person if requested.

Purpose to be able to use active viewing strategies with videos or television and related websites as part of the curriculum
Objectives set up VCR to record program at later date use pause, mute, and other features of the remote to involve students in program use different activities, student groupings, and review teacher’s guides as part of a curriculum area develop a learning activity using video and an active viewing strategy that is aligned to content standards discuss media literacy strategies	NCATE Standards 1.2.8, 1.3.3, 2.2.5 ISTE Standards and Performance Indicators: I.A, II.C and E, III.A and D
Length and Types three to five hour hands-on workshop in a small group with others at the same level	No Prerequisites

Our coaches have the skills and the patience to work with the most reluctant user. As we work with you or your teachers, administrators, or employees, we gently guide the participants to become confident in their ability to use technology. We infuse humor as we guide each participant along their journey to become an effective technology user. Our coaches can prepare your coaches to provide this service onsite for a separate fee. Our coaches will include relevant eCoach guides as part of any opportunity or purchase guides separately.
