Creating Subsidiary Questions

Instructional Time: 45 minutes

Process:
Students will work in groups and then with the class to create focused questions that will guide students through the project.

Groups of 4 will create 3 questions that reflect what they want to know.

Students share questions with class.

Teacher lists all questions on the board or computer.

Class evaluates questions.

Class organizes questions into subsidiary questions that relate to the essential question.

Grade Six. World History and Geography: Ancient Civilizations
HSS.6.2. Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the early civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Kush.
HSS.6.2.1. Locate and describe the major river systems and discuss the physical settings that supported permanent settlement and early civilizations.
