Core Understandings
- About 5,000 years ago people began to gather in vilages for at least part of each year. Some people formed what today are called tribes.
- Indian tribes lived in all parts of California. Some tribes lived close to where you live now.
- Native Americans made everything from the natural resources around them.
- Living in different regions affected each tribes society.
- Each tribe had its own creation stories and legends.
Learning Objectives

- Compare and Contrast data on legends, food,and housing from different tribes.
