An online game where students travel back in time to learn about
U.S. History. Students work individually, in pairs, or in groups
to help Professor Zeno collect information about key
events, people, concepts, and ideas during the 1800-1850 time period.
Around
the Ancient World in 180 Days
A rich web site that helps students learn about the geography of
ancient world cultures. Students engage in simple web searching
activities to inquiry-driven WebQuests.
Islam
Trading Game
Online-trading game where students take on roles of caravan
traders. Students travel to nine cities from Baghdad
to Timbuktu researching information on early Islam and completing
activities along the way.
Egypt
Project
To launch the study of Ancient Egypt, students examine physiological
features of the area to help determine where the best site is for
Egypt's first settlement. Students present and defend their findings
to the class.
Civilization
Film Contest
Students are presented with the challenge creating a slide show
and writing the best story idea about an ancient civilization while
discovering why some civilizations have come to an end.
EthnoVideography
This teacher uses digital video in and outside of the classroom
to empower her students to take charge of their own learning. Students
learn how to plan, write, video, edit, and act out their creations
based on various topics.
African Masks
A site created in collaboration with other 7th grade teachers to
help students research African masks and African ethnic groups.
A step-by-step guide on how to construct an African Mask using paper
mache is included.
